Protecting Spam….

Published by thomasforthe under Humor Edit This

Why is it, that e-mail protects spam mail from accidental erasure? If I want to delete my regular mail by accident, it will allow it, but just try it with spam and a box pops into your life and forces, yes forces, me to reconsider this horrendous decision and ponder the consequences….

My own dear mother can e-mail me, and I can read and delete it without a problem, no pop ups, no hand reaching out of the computer to slap the arrogance from my face.

But, If the President of Nigeria writes me an e-mail from his personal e-mail account at iscamu@ucantstopme.com they want to be darn sure I don’t screw up and accidentally delete that important e-mail!

Even in the mass delete mode they have to include a pop up to check and make absolutely sure I am sane and aware that I am throwing away my last chance at collecting that $250,000,000 My dead Nigerian relative are desperately trying to leave me.

Yet I am only a mouse indiscretion away from losing an e-mail that actually made it into the inbox on purpose, an e-mail from someone that I have seen a picture of, and that has been at family reunions.

Lizard kabob!

Published by thomasforthe under Uncategorized Edit This

Now I am not condoning eating lizard personally, but the cats seem to like it…

It is a good thing we have a lot of lizards here, because the cats love stalking them, and eating them.

Personally I would have to be starving to put a skinny little reptile on the cuisine list, but that is just me.

The cats, mostly Fred and Leo, spend hours hunting them. I think it is probably because of their success rate with squirrels though. Hard to believe any animal capable of taunting a cat and surviving, but the little buggers do it on a daily basis!

Normally they do it from a distance that one would swear was lethal, back turned, and seemingly unaware of the impending feline rush… So far the cats have only managed to catch one, and he got away. He only moved ten feet up a tree before heckling the cats pride, but to a cat, looking at a squirrel, ten feet might as well be a mile.

The squirrels have even been known to let the cat out climb them, and then wait below only to rush past the gravitationally challenged cat hanging on with all four paws. It’s a good thing the cats don’t cooperate in their hunting….

Asleep at the Wheel!

Published by thomasforthe under Humor Edit This

I wonder when our cats will seek revenge for this post? Letting the world know that the feline race is not all graceful may be my undoing….

Cats are remarkably graceful, usually, but there are times that can make you wonder.

Tiger our oldest cat likes to sleep on top of things. The TV, stereo, computer tower, and anywhere else she feels like that is higher and throne-like. The problem is that once she is asleep the height is not always forgiving and she makes a very loud noise falling off!

Tiger is not alone in this skill as Mystery has the same problem with his sleeping arrangements and can end up waking up in a hurry after gravity takes over.

All of our mighty hunters need to practice their take offs and landings, or at least learn to judge distance! They knock things off tables, shelves, window sills, and furniture while learning the laws of physics. Apparently they were all watching Butterflies when the professor gave the lecture on leaping 101, and slept through nesting safety!

I know I am taking a big chance getting this information out there to the public; the four of them got perfect scores in revenge and human torture and practice it at every possible opportunity! If you don’t hear from me in a day or two send a rescue party and a couple of cans of tuna….

I had a Dream…

Published by thomasforthe under Humor Edit This

I had a vision of what my life would be like today. It happened when I was young, and full of myself. It did not include bills, working, or wanting for anything. It excluded all of the mundane, day to day activities I find inundating my life to date.

I should be floating in a sea of beer, supported by a raft made of paper with Ben Franklin’s picture printed on it, fishing for my supper, and surrounded by loyal, smiling faces whose only goal in life was to keep me in the shade and refill my glass!

My biggest challenge would be deciding which car to drive, and in what direction. Getting it out of the warehouse sized garage was never a problem, and perhaps my wife would have decided what to wear by the time I got there….

Yes sir, the dreams of youth… if only I had a garage.

I Think our Pets are out to get me!

Published by thomasforthe under Humor Edit This

I didn’t get much sleep last night….

Every time I came close to dosing off one of the five made sure my eyes re-opened!

Fred was whining all night for attention, not constantly, he reserved his mews for specific times, like when my eyes closed.

Tiger thought knocking things over or off was a great way to keep me awake, nothing better than a crashing object to get your attention….

Mystery used sensory overload, and decided to assault my sinuses by using the litter box and filling it with toxic waste in the wee hours of the morning.

Bear, was being Bear, and either snored, scratched, or licked at the appropriate moment. Char chimed in by mimicking Bear at every possible opportunity.

Having five animals that think they have to sleep in the bedroom is grounds for mental meltdown! Human torture at its best. I think the evil four legged critters are conspiring against me.

Sleep deprived,

April 20th is Random Act of Kindness Day!

Published by thomasforthe under announcements Edit This

The random act of kindness day is a very special event indeed, inspired by the love of a mother for a baby whom she was never able to hold.

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1659687/please_honor_my_baby_on_april_20th.html

I can in no way imagine having to make that decision! All of our love and thoughts will be centered on Rissa, and her baby, on the 20th of each April for as long as my thoughts are mine to give. Please join us on this day and help make the world a better place.

Tight Spots!

Published by thomasforthe under Humor Edit This

I found myself trying to work in a fairly tight spot in the attic yesterday, and it got me thinking of some other nasty situations from the past.

If your employer ever apologizes to you in advance for sending you to a specific location, saying that the job is really going to be unpleasant, run! Transplant your self and your belongings far away and do NOT look back.

All I had to do was hook up one floor grille in a house that had an addition built on, just one. Someone had even knocked a hole in the concrete stem wall for access, but it was a very small hole….

I had to push all my tools and materials into the hole ahead of me and then extend my arms out in front and wiggle in!

Never having gotten in the hole past my knees once I had gotten my connection made all I needed to do was back out and pull the flex out with me.

Now remember, this was a very small hole and my arms had to be out in front to fit into the hole to start, straight out over my head.

Laying flat on my stomach, encased in concrete, arms over my head, legs straight out behind, and pulling the flex for the heat run with me I came to the realization, that the human body cannot and will not move beyond a certain point….

Fingers and toes just do not propel a body well when that is all one can move! The floor was just above my back and bending my knees to help only caused me to wedge against the floor joists.

Doggedly holding on to the flex and the few tools it took to do the job I began to wiggle muscles I never knew I had. There was no way I was letting go of anything, knowing I would have to go back in the hole to get them again….

I don’t know how long it took to get back out, but it took longer than the entire rest of the job and quite possibly longer than it took to write the bible I’m sure. There were a few moments there when I wondered how long it would take before my absence was noted and a rescue party was sent to pull me out or send in food.

Good thing I don’t have claustrophobia!

Riot Control.

Published by thomasforthe under rants Edit This

I find it hard to digest that our own Government is hiding facts from us when we need them the most. The events are unfolding like a bad fiction novel with no ending planned and a really bad plot.

Not only are they not doing anything to stop the problems we have, but they are intent on making them far worse.

While digging an ever deeper hole for we the people to try and live in; the Government is preparing a new arm of the army to deal with the expected riots here at home that they are causing. Yep, you heard it right, 80,000 troops are training right now to deal with the chaos soon to be unleashed by their own ignorant planning and dismal attempts to socialize us.

Worse yet freedom of speech is being attacked and may even become a thing of the past.

Veterans are being targeted by homeland security as possible terrorist threats. A wonderful thing to come home to after having spent a tour of hell defending a country and its people from this very thing.

Food shortages are expected, as well as, shortages of everything else people need to survive. Will it really make any difference with no jobs to make the money it would take to buy them if they were available?

When Obama was touting his “change” I seriously doubt his supporters had this type of change in mind….

Presidential Prep 101

Published by thomasforthe under Humor Edit This

In light of all the blunders Obama has made since taking office I can’t help but wonder if the Government might not want to look into a prep school course for prospective candidates.

Covering such obscure topics as why a President should not bow to the king of a foreign country, a sign of subservience, not respect.

How to speak in a foreign country without alienating your own countrymen and women.

Showing appreciation to the armed forces you happen to be the Commander in Chief of; After all they may need to be called upon after you alienate your own people….

Making certain you have all the proper credentials to hold the office. If called upon to prove you are a natural born citizen with a legal birth certificate you may actually become forced to prove it. And no, even a reference from the President of a Nigerian bank is not good enough.

Trying to socialize a Democratic society is neither a new or a great idea.

Change is a great concept until the masses figure out that is all they are being left of their pay checks.

Presidential Prep 101 sure would cut a lot of red tape and might even stop a impeachment or two….

Presidential Precident

Published by thomasforthe under rants Edit This

Our latest politics as usual President is busy making some serious errors in judgement. During his visit (at our expense) to Europe he apparently forgot who it is he is supposed to be representing. He bowed to a foreign sovereign to start things off here, and ended up dishonoring all of our living and fallen veterans to top it all off.

If that wasn’t bad enough he also decided to apologize for our behavior during World War II; apparently we had no right to bomb Japan and Germany after they attacked us and the rest of the world should have taken care of itself.

Obviously he has never read any history on WW II, or he would know why we had to bomb them, and that the victims of the war were originally losing that war, and being slaughtered, oppressed, and tortured and murdered.

Maybe Obama never bothered to read far enough into history to learn what Hitler had planned for the United States, or that Jews and Gypsies were not the only nationalities on his death list. Once Hitler had gotten control of the world the death camps would have grown exponentially.

Perhaps as President he has overlooked the reports by our military leaders of the time that stated it would take anywhere between one and a half and five million American lives to invade the Japan mainland, or that it would have caused the death of a great many more of the Japanese people to have done so.

We really deserve better, The veterans who died to stop that war deserve better.
