Corporate stupidity

Published by thomasforthe under rants Edit This

We had our cell phones shut off a couple of months back, hoping to reconnect when I went back to work. We settled the bill or so we thought, only to receive a new one in the mail the other day.

We called them to explain the service was no longer required and that it had been cancelled. Part of the charges were a re-connect fee. They asked me If I knew anyone who would be willing to take over the service…. I explain we are dropping the service, contract was fulfilled years ago, game over.

The lady asked if we would like to end our billing cycle on January 25Th. We had to ask her why we would want to do that when we had asked to cancel last month over the phone. Looking up our records she found the conversation listed and that yes we were disconnected a month earlier.

Then she asked if we cared to change plans…. My wife told her she was very funny. That is not what she wanted to say, but it is what she let out. After tying up our land line phone for a half hour, we finally convinced this person that we really did not care to keep the service any longer.

Silence filled the room at her final question, “Is there anything else I can help you with today?” A great deal of restraint was used to not scream that we were done, finished, completed and wanted to talk to them nevermore. What part of disconnect don’t you get? Do they really believe that if they keep you on the phone long enough you may have a change of mind?

When I do need cell service again their’s will not be on the list of places to call for a re-connect I assure you. The computer collection calls were bad enough every day, but this was beyond me. Nothing puts me in a better mood than having my phone ring only to find a computer called me with the simple task of putting me on hold…. Please hold for the next available idiot to come to the phone, you’re not really important enough to warrant a real caller….
