The first decade in a new century

Published by thomasforthe under rants Edit This

One more year is all that is left in the first decade of a new century. Nine years have slipped past into history, adding new pages to the never ending tome, written by many sage clerics who preserve it in a digital format for future generations to read if they care to.

Another president has entered the hallowed halls of yesteryear, a new one yet to cast his shadow in time. May our newest president find the courage and wisdom to move us forward, leaving an economic morass behind us in the process.

The new century started with a mistake made by a large group of programmers that forgot to teach a computer to count past 1999. It has shown few signs of higher intelligence to date.

Our lives have been forever changed by another small group of geniuses, willing to strap on an explosive truss and die for an even smaller group who are not willing to die, but are willing to pay a poor uneducated fool to do so in their stead. Terrorism is nothing more than a fool’s errand, one where the pawn is always sacrificed for the well being of the few profiting by selling weapons and marketing ignorance to the uneducated masses.

Our economy is in turmoil, a state created once again by a few profiting by the loss of many and in today’s society they face few consequences for their actions and will more than likely keep all the profit of ruining the lives of the many.

Our news media has changed, gone are the days of unbiased reporting of facts and entering the new era of focusing on political fashion and false values. Keep the world ignorant, allow no eyebrow to raise, ignorant masses allow a return to the dark ages and suffering of fools.

A short review of world history tells us that there are no lasting empires, gone are the Caesars, the Mongols, the Pharaohs even the Persians have had their day. We are not immune to the folly of our leaders any more than the people of those eras. Let us hope the politicians come to their senses before we are the next great civilization to pass into history, loosing the dogs of chaos.
