The Yard Sale…
Why is it, that when you have an item sitting in your yard, people assume it’s for sale? I had a boat sitting in the side jungle… err yard, hiding amongst the vines and trash… err other valuable items I store there.
He came to the door, the dogs went nuts! He asked, ”Was that ol’ boat was for sale?”
I had that boat for years, carefully hidden in plain sight. It wasn’t a ‘pretty” boat; the boat needed work. I fixed up the trailer and that’s as far as I got in five years… I had planned on fixing it up someday, in gratitude it was supposed to take me fishing.
Like the song says, ’someday never comes…’
He bought my boat.
But! Three hours later, or was it four? Anyway; I finally managed to clear the wood pile, the infernal death vines from you know where and the other valuable items I had stored there away from the boat. Towed it up out of “the pit.” Only to find one tire flat on one side. I pulled the boat forward, nope flat on that side too!
My air tank refused to accept the gift of air, this day and age the gift of air costs you. The boat got jacked up, the tire removed and it was kind enough to accept my gift of air… Small things make me happy.
The tire was replaced, the fetid water drained from the boat; did I mention plastic tarps break down in sunlight?
‘My’ boat has abandoned ship, ran off with a new owner! I really need a better hiding place. I’ll miss that boat…
